HORSLEY LOVELACE

The Arts Society Horsley Lovelace (TASHL)

TASHL is a member society of The Arts Society (TAS) which is a world wide organisation that seeks to educate and promote the appreciation and love of the arts in all its forms. We do this in an enjoyable atmosphere and we aim to give our members pleasure and fun. We are a friendly group of about 220 members who meet once a month except August or December. Our members come from both East and West Horsley and the surrounding areas.

We have a monthly talk given by accredited TAS lecturers. These talks are accompanied by excellent images to illustrate the topic and increasingly with music, where appropriate. We also have a number of outings each year to places in London and the South East of England which gives us the opportunity to further our interest and knowledge.

For an annual subscription of £42 you can attend our 10 lectures a year with tea/coffee served from 9.45am. Other benefits include our monthly newsletter, access to Special Interest Mornings organised by the Area Society (see 'TASHL Special Interest Events' in the 'Documents' area of this website) and a quarterly copy of The Arts Society Review. Members can also register to receive a regular TAS newsletter by e-mail: go to https://theartssociety.org/join-our-mailing-list to register to receive this - it is highly recommended, full of news and an easy read.

Our meetings are held on the morning of the third Wednesday of each month, at East Horsley Village Hall, Kingston Avenue, East Horsley, Surrey KT24 6QT. Timed parking is available both outside the village hall (limited places) and in the nearby car park behind the village shops. The lectures begin at about 10:30am and usually last for an hour. To find out more about us and our lecture and visits programme for 2019/20, please look at the rest of our website. We hope you will want to join us.

For more information please email us on: info@theartssocietyhorsleylovelace.org.uk - or, if you’d like to give us a try first, just come along to one of our lectures (visitors pay £5 at the door).

STOP PRESS:

Members' feedback after lectures

You can now give us your feedback about the lectures through this website. It’s your society and your feedback and suggestions are important to us. It’s easy to use, just go to the feedback symbol at the bottom left of the ‘Home’ page, click, then enter the password TASHL. There is a power point presentation of ‘How to Give Feedback’ in the ‘documents’ section under the ‘Our Society’ menu button.

The Aaronson Bowl.

At our October meeting, members will have the opportunity to support the charity My Time, which provides fun activities for children and young people whose lives are made difficult because of the physical or mental health of family members. In August, a group of teenagers visited the Adam Aaronson Glass Studio in West Horsley for a glass blowing workshop and each made a tumbler.

Funding of the event was shared between our society and The Arts Society Bookham.

At the end of the session, Adam made this beautiful bowl for our societies to raffle with proceeds to be donated to
My Time.

For an image of the bowl, see under 'documents' on this website.

We have received details of Area events through 2020, 2021 - see 'TASHL Special Interest Events' in the 'Documents' area of this website.
